Love vs Roland
Love and Roland were paired to perform ‘a Voice Nigeria favourite’ “Love On Top”.
The uptempo song which is notable for its four key changes, saw both talents step up to the task. For the previous Knockouts stage, Roland delivered a riveting rendition of “Earth Song” and Love stood unrivalled in her performance of “If I Ain’t Got You”. This time, the pair went head-to-head for a shot at the Live Shows. Roland was selected the winner of the round and Niyola attributed this decision to his more effortless execution of the song.

Esther vs Mike Frost
Esther Ubammadu was paired with singer, Mike Frost. The singer unfortunately appeared not to have shaken off the “heavy singing” associated with her “Proud Mary” performance. This consequently resulted in a less enjoyable performance of the song “All Night Long” during the Battles round. Her performance was marred by inessential growling, to deliver Mike Frost as the winner. Mike who is notable for his voice range and technique was indisputably the better performer.
History is made.

‘Too good to choose.’
The final performance of the night changed things as we know it. After a keenly contested round between Manuel Yunus and Gideon Adesipe, Niyola was met with a dilemma to save only one talent. The decision appeared more destabilizing for the coach who acknowledged both talents’ importance to her team. Confronted by this decision, Coach Niyola escalated her dilemma to the Voice Nigeria team and made the ‘ultimate’ decision from the options presented. She decided to forgo the “Audience Save” option that is available to all teams to bring back 1 talent up for eviction. The more-than-excited Coach Niyola saved the day for Yunus and Gidion and kept both talents on her team.

Another amazing performance of the night was from Pere and Sade.
In an expressive display of affection and emotions, the amiable pair delivered a soulful performance of “I Wanna Know What Love Is“. The talents who admit to having great synergy were the right pair for the battle. They however fell short of expectations as expressed in the unanimous feedback from all coaches. Coach Praiz was particularly expressive about his dissatisfaction but commended their vocal abilities. In the end, Pere won the round for being the better performer.
What did you think about Coach Niyola’s decision to save Yunus and Gidion?
