A fire outbreak occurred on a section of the Lagos Blue Line track near the NEPA station opposite the Eko Bridge in the Apogbon area of Lagos on Saturday afternoon.
The incident, which took place at 4:12 pm, was quickly brought under control, with no casualties reported. Gboyega Akosile, spokesperson for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed that train services were not in operation at the time of the fire and that it was a minor incident.
“There was a fire outbreak on a small section of the Lagos Blue Line track at a spot opposite NEPA Station by Eko Bridge inward Apogbon,” Akosile posted on X.
“The incident occurred at 4:12 pm. No casualty was reported, and no train service at the time of the incident.”
He added that a team of safety and emergency personnel quickly extinguished the fire, ensuring the safety of the area.
“Lagosians in that axis can go about their business peacefully as the situation is under control,” Akosile stated, encouraging residents to await further updates on train operations from the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
