Over 10,000 persons are expected to benefit from the 2017 Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers Scheme (HIRD) organised by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Zamfara state.
This was disclosed by the Zamfara State Coordinator of the NYSC Hajiya Rahamatu Sanda on Monday in Gusau.
According to her, the medial outreach will start on Tuesday in Nahuche community in Bungudu, Zamfara, and ends on Friday.
“That is why the NYSC came up with this initiative to assist people, especially the poor at the grassroots,” she said.
“Various diseases such as malaria, diabetes, cholera and typhoid will be treated during the outreach.”
She called on the people to take advantage of the medical scheme, stressing that the rural is often the most hit by diseases.
In addition, she noted that, “We have also invited other stakeholders such as health care service providers, including government and private health institutions for the exercise.”
