Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that the issue of releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was not discussed during his meeting with South-East governors on Tuesday.
According to Obasanjo, the meeting focused on regional development issues, including security, infrastructure, economy, and cooperation. He emphasized that Kanu’s release was not on the agenda and was not discussed in his presence.
This clarification comes amidst calls from various quarters, including South-East Senators and former Governor Peter Obi, for Kanu’s release. Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since 2021, facing terrorism charges.
