Just after we thought the PDP has taken over Omisore, The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Osun governorship election has reportedly agreed to work for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state rerun election.
On Sunday, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive, scheduling a rerun for Thursday, September 27.
Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party got the highest over the candidate of the APC, Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola.
Omisore, a former deputy governor of the state, came third.
The two major political parties have been jostling to get Omisore to work for them in the rerun, as some of the units the rerun would be held happen to be strongholds of the former deputy governor.
A source close to Fayemi told Punch that the discussion was fruitful.
The source said: “Dr Kayode Fayemi went to discuss with Senator Omisore in Ife today. The meeting was not unconnected with the Osun rerun poll.
“Dr Fayemi travelled to the US with President Buhari to attend the UN General Assembly and it was Buhari that asked him to return home to hold a meeting with Omisore on the matter.
“One vote is very important in this election, so every vote is important and that is the reason for the visit.”
okay.ng recalls that the Senate President Bukola Saraki had on Monday paid the former lawmaker a visit, in a bid to convince him to work for the PDP.
However, Omisore is reported to have sealed a deal after a meeting with a team from the APC led by Chairman Adams Oshiomhole in Osogbo early Wednesday.
In the APC entourage were Governors Abiola Ajimobi, Abdullahi Ganduje, Ibikunle Amosun of Oyo, Kano and Ogun states respectively.
Also in the team was Governor-elect Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
