Former governor of Abia state Orji Uzor Kalu has been turbaned with the traditional title of “Danbaiwan-Hausa”.
The title, which was conferred on Kalu by the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq, on Wednesday, August 22, was in recognition of his efforts toward the development of Abia and Nigeria at large.
Faruq said this in his palace in Daura, Katsina state, when he conferred the title on the former governor.
The monarch, who described Kalu as peace promoter, noted that the title had made him the representative of the Hausa in the entire Ibo land in the country.
‘’We appreciate your contributions to the business sector in Nigeria and your efforts in peacebuilding for the good of community,” he said.
‘’We also appreciate the love you have for our son; I urge you to continue your campaigns for President Muhammadu Buhari.’’
Faruq said that throughout the Hausa land it is only the Daura Emirate that could confer the title, which means a ‘’Gifted son of Hausa Kingdom,” to anybody.
Responding, Kalu commended the Emir and assured the monarch that he would continue to do more for the development and unity of the country.
