The Ministry of Federal Affairs, Osun State in joint decision with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has organized a gathering of over 32 ambassadors and diplomats from diverse countries to dissect the agricultural opportunities of the state and how it can be the hub of foreign investors.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Tola Faseru, in the meeting, stated plans by the state government to organize in April an agricultural investment conference, in line with the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration’s goal of maximizing opportunities in the sector.
Faseru declared this in Abuja, noting that the Osun State Government had successfully bagged cooperation and partnerships with ambassadors from 32 countries, sequel to closed-door sessions.
He buttressed on the necessity of foreign investors from the private sector utilizing Osun State’s sufficient potential in the agricultural sector, declaring the availability of the Adeleke leadership to supply the conducive atmosphere for investors to thrive.
He added, “We’re committed to creating an enabling environment for investors to thrive.”
He also detailed the diverse efforts of the government to delete impediments that have dettered investors from investing their money in Osun State.
Providing more information into the Osun State Government’s investment drive, a principal officer in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, informed potential investors that the state is ready for investment and would guarantee their success.
He added, “Osun is an agricultural hub of southwestern Nigeria, with a high ease-of-doing business rating, positive investment climate, and policies promoting agro-industrialisation.
“We’ve tackled our infrastructure deficits and have functioning free trade zones. Osun is open for business.”
Oyewumi relayed the readiness of Governor Adeleke, of his availability to receive them in Osun State, stressing that “we acknowledge that we cannot achieve our goals alone, which is why we’re inviting participants from around the world to join us at the Agriculture Investment Conference – Osun 2025.”
While replying, the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Anlit; the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales, and other ambassadors in unison affirmed to visit Osun State and invite their private sector investors and governments to be involve in the conference.
While the Osun State Government prepares to host the Agricultural Investment Conference, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, the Director of Economy, Trade and Investment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, finalized with the Osun State Commissioner for Federal Affairs, Mrs Adenike Adeleke, that formal invitations would be delivered to the members of the diplomatic missions in Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Osun State Ministry of Federal Affairs, introducing the platform for a productive collaboration between the state and foreign investors.
