Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has addressed the chants from Liverpool fans calling for his dismissal during their match on Sunday at Anfield.
With Liverpool closing in on a win, the home supporters chorused, “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” in the 89th minute, targeting the City boss.
Guardiola, known for his composure, responded with a smile and a playful gesture, holding up one hand and a single finger to signify the number of Premier League titles Manchester City has won under his leadership.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Guardiola admitted he was caught off guard by the chants.
“I didn’t expect that at Anfield,” he said.
“I didn’t expect it from the people from Liverpool but it’s fine, it’s part of the game, and I understand completely. We’ve had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them.”
