President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have met at the ongoing African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, five days after Obasanjo condemned Buhari’s administration.
Both leaders were said to have met briefly just before the opening ceremony of the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
Obasanjo first went around to exchange pleasantries with other African leaders attending the summit, before looking out for Buhari among the crowd to also have a word with him.
The former Nigerian leader had released a special statement on the state of the nation on Tuesday in which he advised Buhari against seeking re-election in 2019.
Obasanjo believes the current government has been incompetent and nepotistic in its pattern of key federal appointments among other areas he feels the government has failed.
