Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has officially declared his intention to run for Nigeria’s presidential seat in the 2019 elections.
Kwankwaso made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, and would be fighting for the exalted position under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Kano Central lawmaker who could not use the Eagles Square in Abuja, took to the Chida Hotel in the Jabi Area of the FCT to make the formal declaration.
Speaking to hundreds of his supporters, he vowed to bring “value-based” leadership to the country as well as provide security.
“As I formally declare my intention to vie for the office of the President on the platform of the PDP,” Kwankwaso said, “I promise you a value-based leadership.”
He pledged to “provide national security and as a former Minister of Defense, I know what I am talking about here.”
