Members of Shiite in Kano state celebrated the birth of Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) by taking to the streets of Kano state in an event called the Maulud procession.
The group was led by Mallam Sanusi Abdulkadir from Kabara where they gathered before moving through Soron Dinki, Makwarari Jakara, and Kwanar Dala, da Gwammaja and Kofar Mazuma areas in Kano metropolis.
Members who spoke with Sahara Reporters noted that the practice was yearly and intended to be a celebratory message of Maulud Nabiy, but this year’s message is different because they are out to mourn the genocidal carnage perpetrated by the Nigerian Army against their member in Zaria.
The Shiites procession saw sect members comprising men, women and children dressed in mostly black attires. See photos below
