Bayelsa State Police Command has placed a ban on political campaigns in the state, Punch informs.
The prohibition was announced on Tuesday in Yenagoa by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Asinim Butswat.
The statement explains that in order to ensure a hitch-free political campaigns, the police authorities in the state had beefed up security with increased vehicular and foot patrols.
The police urges members of the public and party supporters to cooperate with the security operatives and also give useful information about persons or group of persons who intend to cause trouble at the venues of campaigns.
Bayelsa State Police Command also advised party supporters to desist from disrupting the activities of perceived political opponents.
Finally the statement especially warned that the police would deal decisively with any person or group of persons who engage in unscrupulous acts.
