Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, was apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday evening in Lagos State.
The agency’s spokesman, Mr. Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest to reporters on Thursday morning.
In a statement, Oyewale clarified that Bobrisky’s arrest was related to allegations of mutilating naira notes and not connected to his lifestyle as a cross-dresser.
He emphasized that the EFCC’s interest in Bobrisky was solely based on suspicions of economic crimes.
“It is true our boys arrested him yesterday evening in Lagos for naira abuse. We don’t have anything to do with his lifestyle (being a cross-dresser). He was suspected of committing an economic crime and that was the reason for his arrest,” stated the EFCC spokesman.
