The House of Representatives has directed security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the murder of soldiers by unknown gunmen in Abia State. The House also asked its committees on Defence to interface with the Armed Forces to ensure a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
The motion was sponsored by Hon. Abubakar Makki Yalleman, who lamented the frequent attacks on military personnel, including the recent brutal killing of five soldiers at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia State. He expressed concern that such attacks could dampen the morale of the armed forces, endanger lives and property, and undermine the success recorded in the insecurity war.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Benson, described the attacks as provocative and commended President Bola Tinubu for his quick intervention. The Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, Hon Yusuf Adams Gagdi, called for education and action to stop the killing of security personnel.
