Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved a ₦100,000 bonus for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, who stated that the approval was granted on Monday. According to Nwaeke, the Yuletide largesse aims to enable workers and senior citizens to enjoy a fulfilling festive season.
According to the statement, this is the second time within the administration of Fubara that civil servants in the state will be receiving Christmas bonus, to the tune of N100,000 an amount which is above the value of the nation’s minimum wage.
However, the statement highlighted that this is the first time pensioners are included as beneficiaries of the largesse, a move widely praised as a gesture of inclusivity and compassion.
In addition to the monetary bonus, Governor Fubara extended his Christmas message to the people of Rivers State, urging them to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond.
Through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
Fubara assured the people of Rivers State that 2025 would bring new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
