Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki has called for neutral investigation into the invasion of the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The invasion which led to the sack of the Director-General of the agency Lawan Daura has been roundly condemned by many Nigerians.
Speaking on the issue, Saraki described the siege as an “assault” on the nation’s democracy.
“The very serious questions about last Tuesday’s siege on the National Assembly can only be answered through a thorough and neutral investigation,” the former Kwara State governor tweeted.
“I call on Mr. President to immediately institute an independent judicial panel of inquiry to look into that assault on our democracy.”
