US rapper and hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been arrested in New York City on unspecified federal charges, Okay.ng reports.
The 54-year-old music icon was taken into custody by officers from Homeland Security Investigations on Monday at the Park Hyatt New York, where he had been staying.
The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, confirmed the arrest in a statement shared via X (formerly Twitter). While the exact nature of the charges remains unclear, Williams said, “we expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
Diddy’s arrest follows a string of legal issues that have kept him in the public eye since November 2023. Several women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, have filed lawsuits accusing the rapper of sexual assault. Additionally, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer for Diddy, filed a separate lawsuit alleging that he was sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened by the rapper for over a year.
In March 2024, the United States Department of Homeland Security raided two properties linked to Diddy as part of an ongoing investigation. In May, a video emerged showing Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016, adding fuel to the legal battle. Although Diddy denied Cassie’s initial claims, he later issued a public apology, stating, “I am truly sorry”, and acknowledged that his actions were “inexcusable.”
Most recently, a Michigan inmate was awarded $100 million in a default judgment for a sexual assault lawsuit filed against Diddy.
