Godwin Emefiele has been confirmed by the senate as governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for second term on Thursday.
Okay Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari reappointed Emefiele for another term.
However, for the appointment to take effect the senate needs to confirm it, according to CBN Act.
Speaking while confirming the appointment, Senate President Bukola Saraki said: “On behalf of the senate, let me congratulate the governor of the central bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele on the renewal of his appointment.
“We wish him a useful tenure and may he use this opportunity to continue to provide support to ensure that the economy of our country continues to improve and address the important area of ensuring microeconomic stability.”
Emefiele was first appointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.
