Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani on Monday revealed that he honored the invitation of the Nigerian police to appear before it.
Police in Kaduna had written Senator Sani, requesting that he reports at their headquarters after he was mentioned in a murder case.
Commissioner of Police in the Northwest state, Austin Iwar, said in a statement that he had written to the Senator, asking him to appear for questioning on 30 April.
The lawmaker, according to the police chief, would be questioned regarding an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide transferred to the police by the 1 Division of the Nigerian army in Kaduna.
In a post on his Twitter page on Monday, the lawmaker revealed that he appeared before the police and he was granted bail.
Sani wrote:
“The Police invited me to appear today by 10:45am. I honored the invitation to the Police Headquarters in Kaduna by 10:45am, with clear conscience. I wrote my statements. I was granted ‘self bail’. I have left.”
