Senator Shehu Sani has threatened to sue his party, the All Progressive Congress, over what he described as false allegations against him.
Sani made the threat on Wednesday after a group within the party threatened to sack the senator from the party for refusing to honour their invitation.
”If in the next one week, the party excos in the state fail to withdraw a letter sent to him on the allegation that he was involved in anti party activities, he will take a legal action against the party,” Mr. Sani, who was represented at a news briefing by his senior legislative aide and his campaign director general, Rabiu Khaleed, said.
”This is our stand. We will not honour an invitation by kangaroo executives in the state. APC executives are not in existence in the state. We are, therefore, urging them to withdraw the letter sent to us within a week or we will take legal action against them.
”Senator Shehu Sani will not honour their invitation because he doesn’t recognize them as state executives of the party. They are only claiming to be APC members but we know they are only doing a bid for the state governor. Since our election, no party executive in the state deemed it fit to write to Senator Sani to inform him of any party activities despite being a party stakeholder. Therefore, he will not honour any invitation from anybody because there are no recognized party leaders in the state,” he said.
