Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming service, recently held its second Stream On event.
The event was attended by artists, songwriters, video and content creators, and podcasters from all over the world.
During the event, Spotify announced new features and tools to help creators establish a career, grow and thrive while building the best home for them.
“We are enabling more creativity, discovery and personalization than ever before by providing the best resources, support, and interactivity,” said Daniel Ek, the Founder & CEO of Spotify.
Spotify’s focus on discovery led to the introduction of a new visual interface that enhances connections between creators and listeners.
The Smart Shuffle feature introduces new music that complements existing playlists with just a tap of a button, while Autoplay for Podcasts plays another episode that is relevant and fits the listener’s taste when the current one ends.
The company also introduced new and enhanced tools for Spotify for Artists to help artists find fans who will love their music most.
New Concert and Merch Discovery tools will ensure that concert-goers never miss another show, while the Fans First program will give top listeners access to exclusive concert pre-sales and merch.
Spotify also launched Spotify for Podcasters, a one-stop-shop to create, manage, grow and monetize podcast content. The feature offers access to Q&A and Poll functionality for all Spotify for Podcasters users, including those who do not host their content on Spotify.
Spotify Originals and Exclusives were also announced, including a new podcast series, The Riddler: Secrets in the Dark, led by Phantom 4 and filmmaker, novelist, and comic book writer David S. Goyer.
Spotify’s annual music royalties report, Loud & Clear, showed that more artists than ever before are finding success. The number of artists generating $1M+ and those generating $10,000+ has more than doubled over the past five years. “Think about the massive potential that represents for creators.
No matter where you are on your own creative journey within music, podcasts or audiobooks, the potential to reach half a billion people is about to become more powerful with what we’ve introduced today,” said Daniel Ek.
Spotify’s Stream On event introduced several features and tools that will enable creators to establish and grow their careers.
