Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro revealed that he experimented with new formations during his team’s friendly match against Guinea on Monday, which ended in a 2-0 defeat at Banis Yas Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
In the encounter, Aguibou Camara and Facinet Conte found the net for the Syli Stars in each half, securing the victory over Peseiro’s side.
Peseiro acknowledged the change in formation and expressed his thoughts on how it impacted the team’s performance. “We tested a new system today, 3-4-3. We did a very good first half, we were losing 1-0 then, but we deserved more,” he stated in an interview with NFF TV.
Despite the defeat, Peseiro pointed out the positives from the match. “We played very well and put the other team on the back foot, but we let in a goal through a mistake. But it’s better to do the mistakes now than later,” he added.
The friendly provided an opportunity for the Super Eagles to explore different tactical setups and assess player performances as they fine-tune their strategy ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
