The eagerly anticipated friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Albiceleste of Argentina has been called off due to an administrative issue with visas, according to a statement released by the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) on Tuesday.
Initially scheduled to take place at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou, China, as part of a tour between March 18 and 26, the fixture has now been relocated to the United States.
However, the Super Eagles will no longer be participating in the encounter.
In January, the AFA had announced the friendly match, anticipating an exciting clash between the two footballing powerhouses.
Nevertheless, an unforeseen hurdle arose, leading to the cancellation of Nigeria’s involvement.
The AFA statement explained, “Due to an administrative problem with visas, the Nigerian National Team will not be able to play its match against the Argentine National Team, scheduled for the double date in March in the United States. That is why the Costa Rica National Team will replace the African team on the stipulated schedule.”
