At least 10 people have been reported dead in the Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State following a Boko Haram attack.
The terrorists were said to have sneaked into some villages in the area while fleeing an air raid carried out by Nigerian troops, according to Vanguard.
During the onslaught, the insurgents, who were reportedly armed with AK 47 rifles, fired at will and set buildings on fire.
“The insurgents who were attempting to regroup around one of their destroyed camps were bombarded by a coordinated effort of the military and air force operatives, before some of them who escaped the onslaught stormed some of the nearby villages and killed 10 people with seven others seriously injured,” a resident told Vanguard.
“We received seven victims of Boko Haram attacks in Monguno village today (yesterday), I was at the hospital when the victims were brought in by some security operatives with few members of civilian JTF,” a hospital source said confirming the incident.
