Former Leicester City coach Claudio Ranieri wants his fellow Italian manager Antonio Conte to remain at Chelsea despite rumours linking him back to Italy.
Conte is being linked with a return Italian football to take up a coaching role with AC Milan but Ranieri, who was sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2004, said:
“The Premier League remains the best and I am not convinced of Conte’s desire to return home.
“Maybe he was expecting a different transfer window but for a few years, Abramovich has not paid crazy prices.
“Manchester City and Manchester United on the other hand have made big buys so I can imagine that for Antonio to fight on more fronts with the same players is more tiring.”
Conte is reportedly not happy with the way Chelsea transfer activities turned out in the summer which has fuelled the speculation of his return to his homeland.
