William Gallas has explained the controversial circumstances which led to his move from Chelsea to Arsenal in 2006.
Gallas in action for Chelsea
Chelsea claimed the former France defender refused to play for the club and threatened to score an own goal.
Gallas left Stamford Bridge as part of the deal which saw Ashley Cole go in the opposite direction.
But when asked on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM, if the claim was true, Gallas cleared up what happened.
He said: “That was not true.
“I told the club, I like to play with my heart, when I play I give 100 per cent.
“Because we were negotiating my contract, they didn’t want to give me what I want, so I said to them I want to leave.
“It was a very difficult decision to leave Chelsea, they gave me everything.”
