President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted approval for the commencement of the 2024 National Honours Award, aimed at recognizing Nigerians and friends of Nigeria who have made significant contributions to the nation’s development.
This prestigious initiative seeks to honor individuals who have excelled in their respective fields and uplifted the nation.
The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, made the announcement during a meeting with the ministry’s management team on Tuesday in Abuja.
He highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to acknowledging those who have played a key role in advancing the country.
Jisalo emphasized that the application forms and procedures for the national honours are free of charge, warning the public against making any payments related to the awards.
“By this information, the public is to watch out for calls for nominations and present individuals who have distinguished themselves by uplifting the nation and its people. This is in accordance with the National Honours Award Act 2004. The Act took retrospective effect from 1963,” Jisalo stated.
He reiterated that the awards would spotlight Nigerians who have demonstrated excellence in various sectors, encouraging citizens to nominate worthy individuals for the 2024 National Honours.
