On Monday, March 3, 2025 his excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the creation of 11 new private universities in Nigeria, 5 in South West and 6 others in the South-South, South East and Northern part of the country respectively.
This was disclose via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser, Media & Public Communication/Spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu.
He stated: “President Tinubu today approved provisional licenses for 11 private Universities in Nigeria. At today’s FEC meeting the following Private Universities were approved”:
- New City University, Ayetoro Ogun State (South West)
- University of Fortune, igbotako, Ondo State (South West)
- Eranova University, Mabushi (Abuja, North)
- Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annex (South West)
- Abubakar Toyin University, oke-Agba, Kwara State (North Central)
- Southern Atlantic University Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (South-South)
- Lens University, ilemona, Kwara State (North Central)
- Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State (South West)
- Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City (Southern Nigeria)
- Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos (South West)
- Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State (South East)
“President Tinubu is Committed to expanding the frontiers of Educational opportunities and infrastructure”, the statement reads.
