President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Villa Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja. The meeting, which started on Tuesday, has in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Head of Service, Dr. Folashade Yemi Esan, among other ministers.
This meeting comes after last month’s two-day marathon meeting, which produced about 20 policies and projects. The FEC meeting, which was inaugurated by President Tinubu on August 28, 2023, usually holds on Mondays but is being held on a Tuesday this week, without any stated reason.
The Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, had earlier explained that the council would only meet when there are memoranda to consider, and that the meeting would be skipped if there are no issues to discuss. However, no reason has been given for the unusual scheduling of today’s meeting.
