Wolfsburg have completed the transfer of Dutch striker, Wout Weghorst from AZ Alkmaar, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old striker will wear Wolfsburg’s jersey after signing a four-year deal, which binds the Dutchman to the Lower Saxony side until June 2022.
“Wout Weghorst has consistently performed well at Alkmaar and continually developed. With his style of play and mentality he should fit well in the Bundesliga,” Wolfsburg’s sporting director Joerg Schmadtke said.
Weghost played two years for Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar and marked 31 goals in overall 60 appearances. His prolific performances earned him a place in the Netherland’s national team where he made his debut against England in March 2018.
“My time in Alkmaar was very nice but it was clear that I would like to take the next step in my career. Now I am looking forward to a new challenge. I am sure the transfer into the Bundesliga is the right decision for my further development,” Weghorst told the club’s official homepage.
