The University of Abuja has expelled 54 students for their involvement in examination malpractice.
The action followed the approval by the Senate of the university of a recommendation by the Central Examination Misconduct Committee it set up earlier to investigate allegations levelled against the students.
A statement by the Deputy Registrar, Academic Division, Malam Yahaya I. Mohammed, showed that the expelled students were from the faculties of social sciences, science, education law and management sciences.
The university also approved the rustication of 19 students from the institution spanning various academic periods.
Fourteen of the students were rusticated for one academic session while five were rusticated for one semester, and are to carry over their courses.
The rusticated students are from the faculties of arts, social sciences, science, education and management sciences.
