Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has suffered a muscle injury that could keep him out of action for several weeks, Okay.ng reports.
Osimhen picked up the injury during Galatasaray’s Super Lig encounter against Kasımpaşa on September 28, where he scored two first-half goals before being substituted early in the second half.
He was replaced by Dries Mertens in a match that ended in a 3-3 draw.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Galatasaray confirmed that the 25-year-old striker was diagnosed with “strain and bleeding in his upper left posterior muscle group” and has already begun treatment. However, the club did not provide a specific timeline for his recovery.
As a result, Osimhen is expected to miss Galatasaray’s Europa League clash against FK Rīgas of Latvia on Thursday, as well as a potential absence from their upcoming Super Lig game against Alanyaspor.
The injury also casts doubt on Osimhen’s availability for Nigeria’s 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play the first leg on October 11 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, followed by the return leg in Libya four days later.
