Former President Olesegun Obasanjo has endorsed Peter Obi for the 2023 presidency, citing a range of reasons for his endorsement.
In a letter addressed to all Nigerians on the occasion of the New Year’s celebration, Obasanjo emphasizes the importance of youth in leadership and notes that Obi, as a septuagenarian, is best suited to provide the “vigour, energy, agility, dynamism, and outreach” required for the job.
Obasanjo also points to the current administration’s inability to address a range of issues facing the country.
He laments the state of “pervasive and mind-numbing insecurity” in Nigeria, as well as the problems of “rudderless leadership,” “mismanagement of diversity,” and rampant corruption.
Additionally, he cites “bad economic policies” as a major issue, leading to “extremes of poverty and massive unemployment and galloping inflation.”
In contrast, Obasanjo praises Obi’s experience and track record, stating that he has “done his homework” and is ready to lead the country.
He also highlights Obi’s strong and decisive leadership style, which he believes will be effective in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria.
Obi has also demonstrated a commitment to unity and the transformation of the country, according to Obasanjo.
He praises Obi’s ability to bring people together and unite the country, and believes that he will be able to lead Nigeria towards a better future.
Obasanjo said he is confident that Peter Obi is the best candidate for the presidency and is convinced that he will be able to effectively lead the country.
He urges all Nigerians to consider Obi’s qualifications and track record when making their decision in the upcoming election.
