Against the backdrop of the pro-Biafra protest in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, Governor, Nyesom Wike, has given a stern warning against insidious actions and further protests of such by anybody or group in the state.
Wike who was peeved by the protest by pro-Biafra members warned through a government House statement signed by Opunabo Inko- Tariah, the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity warned that any more protest any group by the name the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Port-Harcourt on Tuesday October 20, warned that such demonstrations will not be tolerated by his administration.
The governor who swore to the indivisibility of Nigeria, the said the actions of the IPOB members are capable of stimulating chaos in the state.
Governor Wike warned that as the chief security officer of the state who swore to protect lives and property, he will not tolerate actions that will lead to the breakdown of law and order in the state.
Dissociating himself and the state from the protest, governor Wike warned that the coercive legal machinery will be set in motion against any group that will disturb the peace in the state in guise of fanning ethnic sentiments.
The governor enjoined residents and all those transacting businesses in state to go about their lawful duties-assuring them of safety.
