Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has made the decision to reduce the number of state government ministries from 28 to 16.
The governor’s action seeks to eliminate wastage and enhance the effectiveness of government functions.
The announcement came via a statement released by Sulaiman Idris, the governor’s spokesperson, on Thursday.
The Executive Order, signed by Governor Lawal at the Council Chambers of the Government House in Gusau, the state capital, represents a strategic effort to optimize resources while ensuring the smooth delivery of services to the people of Zamfara.
Under the newly approved framework, a leaner and more focused set of ministries will drive the state’s governance agenda.
The restructured ministries include Agriculture; Budget and Planning; Science and Technology; Environment and Natural Resources; Finance; Health; and Commerce; Trade and Industry.
Additional ministries in the restructured setup comprise Information and Culture; Justice; Housing and Urban Development; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Religious Affairs; Women Affairs and Social Development; Works and Infrastructure; Youth and Sport; and Internal Security and Home Affairs.
